I am an architect by training and an entrepreneur in spirit. I first moved to Burlington in 2010, after completing undergraduate studies at Cornell University. Here, I worked as a freelance designer, explored several start-up ideas, and became passionate for all things Vermont. After a few years, I returned to my hometown of Rochester, NY for graduate school, where I earned a Master of Architecture degree from RIT. There, I was deeply immersed in the science of sustainable buildings, and developed a love for the intersection of design and sustainability.
While at RIT, my culminating M.Arch thesis project was titled, "Learning by Design; Design by Learning." In it, I researched the effects of buildings on student performance, and how to design a school that could inspire students to succeed. Factors such as daylight, ventilation and sustainability have measurable effects on students and teachers, and architecture provides the opportunity to change the daily habits of a building's occupants for the better.
Upon returning to Vermont after graduation, I found a position at Freeman French Freeman, an architecture firm in Burlington. At FFF, I work as an architect and Associate Principal to help build Vermont’s sustainable future. I also enjoy doing some freelance graphic design projects on the side when the fit is right. I am a long-standing board member and volunteer with AIA Vermont, the American Institute of Architects state chapter, as well as the Burlington 2030 District.
In 2023, I decided to attend UVM’s Sustainable Innovation MBA program to tie together my interests of sustainability, business, leadership, and design. My practicum project was related to the intersection of Nature and Business, and my team researched and wrote a white paper titled, “The Cost of Inaction on Nature-related Risk.” We developed the business case to protect nature and ecosystem services, understanding all businesses have direct impacts and dependencies on nature. At the SI-MBA graduation in August 2024, I was selected to be the Class Speaker, and had the honor of representing the class and speaking at the ceremony.
I currently live in Burlington with my husband and our two young sons. Together, we enjoy being outside, active, and adventuring in any season, exploring what the state has to offer.
